The wealth of activities close by Solivita are really amazing. Of course, most people are familiar with Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld, Orlando. In addition, there are myriad lesser known attractions. One example is the Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee, FL. It’s been a tradition in Central Florida since 1944. Some friends and I went to it this weekend, and it was really FUN. We started out with a nice supper at Crabby Bills in St. Cloud, FL. It’s a beautiful, casual spot on East Lake Toho with good food (especially seafood, obviously), and great views.
We then headed over to the rodeo arena at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, FL. From the rodeo clown to the professional cowboys and cowgirls doing flashy horseback riding, calf roping, bull riding (SCARY!), etc., it was really an interesting and impressive experience. I think it comes around about twice a year, and we would go back again.

We topped off our evening with ice cream after the rodeo (SINFUL), and then back home through the gates into beautiful Solivita.

Sounds like a fun time for everyone. Just look at those smiles! Most people don’t think of a rodeo taking place in Central Florida, but the area has a rich cowboy history and there is still a lot of cattle ranching in Florida.
Thanks, Ginger. Very true about the cowboy history in this area. My son’s father-in-law in Dallas said there’s really more cattle raising here than in Texas because there’s far more grazing vegetation here.
Sounds like fun, John. Do you know that there is actually a Rodeo Day holiday? Schools are closed because “back in the day” the rodeo rode right through town (Kissimmee). Our MD’s office has photos of Rodeo Days all over his office. Glad you a great time. Crabby Bills…………..one of my favorites. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm.

What a great night out and not far away to enjoy something different…even if you’re not a cowboy or girl! We haven’t touched the surface of the variety of things to do in the Central Florida area. It’s like going on a vacation every weekend in your own backyard!
